Case Study Soudan

A Deployable Hospital for Remote Medical Operations

The project involved a 100-bed mobile field hospital, designed and delivered as a turnkey solution including all medical and support infrastructure. These field hospitals are commonly used in humanitarian missions, emergency response operations, and remote areas where permanent hospitals are not available.

Level-2 field hospitals are equipped with:

  •  Emergency and surgical units
  • Diagnostic capabilities including radiology
  • In-patient wards
  • Support infrastructure such as power generation, water treatment, and logistics systems

Designed for rapid deployment, such hospitals can be installed and operational in as little as one to three days, making them essential for disaster zones and remote regions.

The Challenge: Managing Wastewater in a Temporary Medical Facility
Temporary medical infrastructures like field hospitals must comply with strict hygiene and sanitation standards. For this project, the main challenges included:

  • Collecting wastewater from multiple sanitary facilities
  • Managing both black water and grey water safely
  • Pumping wastewater to the main sewage network
  • Ensuring reliability in a remote environment with continuous hospital activity
A reliable and robust pumping solution was therefore required to guarantee safe wastewater evacuation.

The Solution: Sanicubic 2 Classic
To meet these requirements, the Sanicubic 2 Classic lifting station from SFA was installed.
Designed for commercial and collective applications, the Sanicubic 2 Classic provides a reliable solution for wastewater pumping in demanding environments.

Key features include:

  • Dual motors for maximum operational reliability
  • High-performance pumping for black and grey water
  • The ability to discharge wastewater vertically up to 22 meters
  • A robust design suitable for continuous operation

Installed within the field hospital’s infrastructure, the system collects wastewater from the sanitary installations and pumps it efficiently to the main sewage network.

Supporting Healthcare Missions in Remote Regions

By integrating the Sanicubic 2 Classic, the field hospital benefits from:

  • Safe wastewater management
  • Continuous operation for critical medical services
  • Compliance with healthcare sanitation standards
  • Reliable performance in demanding environments

This project highlights how SFA pumping solutions support humanitarian and medical missions worldwide, ensuring that even temporary hospitals maintain the highest standards of hygiene and reliability.
